Program Description

Health care in America has been an intensely debated issue since the 1970s.  In spite of extraordinary expenditures for care, Americans don't live any longer than the rest of the world and suffer from shocking levels of chonic illness.

How did we arrive at this state?  Will the currently-proposed Health Care Reform movement respond to these issues?  At this session, Dr. Longest will apply his depth of knowledge and experience to address the matter with his characteristic wit and candor.

Learning Objectives

  • To examine the obvious (and not so obvious) issues related to Health Care Reform
  • Review the complexities ingrained in the present health care delivery system and why change will be difficult
  • Recap the long, winding road that took us so long to get to this point
  • Discuss where we go from here.  Does the proposed Health Care Reform Program represent "the answer" to untangling the present system?
