E.I. - How important is it? A discovery of the Meaning and Business Application of Emotional Intelligence Assessments and Training

During this two-hour session, participants will be given the opportunity to learn about emotional intelligence and why it has become a key factor in hiring and developing talent. Using the work of Daniel Goleman as a foundation, the session will include a short personal assessment to help participants see and understand the impact of emotional intelligence on their own professional performance. Further exploration will uncover ways to improve and strengthen emotional intelligence through training and coaching.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Define emotional intelligence as presented in Daniel Goleman's work
- Consider its uses in hiring practices and organizational development
- Discuss and recognize behaviors associated with the five components of emotional intelligence
- Understand their own strengths and development areas with the help of an emotional intelligence assessment
- Apply tips for improving emotional intelligence for themselves and others
