Bob Kovatch is the Director of the Orthopedic Service Line at St. Clair Hospital, a non-profit independent 329-bed tertiary care suburban hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Approximately 4,000 orthopedic procedures are performed at St. Clair Hospital each year, including 1,200 joint replacements and 400 surgical spine procedures.
Bob is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy, and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Master of Physical Therapy degree. He practiced clinically as a physical therapist both in hospital acute setting and in several outpatient sports medicine settings before going on to earn his Master of Business Administration, also from the University of Pittsburgh. Bob then worked as a consultant assisting hospitals and health systems across the US develop and manage their musculoskeletal service lines before joining St. Clair Hospital.
Bob has been a member of ACHE since May 2013. He completed ACHE’s Executive Program in 2014 and passed the Board of Governor’s exam in 2015, anticipating achievement of Fellow status upon completion of three years tenure in ACHE in May 2016.
In addition to his service on the ACHE Board, Bob is also a member of Board of Directors of the Pittsburgh South Hills YMCA. He is a leader in the YMCA Parent/Child program, serving a “Chief” in the local chapter of the Y-Princess program. Bob is also involved in youth sports, having coached South Fayette township soccer, football, basketball, and baseball teams.
